Coach Friend went to High
School at Burdett, KS. Where he excelled
football, Basketball and
track.

I have
received the following from Larry Jantz who has done a tremendous
amount of research on Coach.
During
his high school days at Burdett High School, he lead his then Class BB
basketball team to the State Championship and was voted the MVP of the
tournament back in 1954 and was coached by legendary Jay Frazier (now retired
and living in McPherson). (See Photos of Both Coaches in Picture
section)
