Fred Martin Kuddes, Jr. SP6, US Army, was born in Montezuma and grew up and graduated from Ingalls, Class of 1952. He enlisted during the Korea War, and eventually ended up as an EOD specialist (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) working at the Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah (Biological & Chemicals weapons testing). He and four others were killed when a CH 21 Shawnee helicopter crashed on 1/27/1967. He was 32 year old. It was suspected that some ordinance they had in the chopper with them exploded prematurely. He is buried at the Fort Douglas Post Cemetery in Salt Lake City
