Grand Opening, May 11th, 2002

Now it is official.  Cimarron Golf Club had it's Grand Opening this last
Saturday, May 11th, 2002.  It was well attended by local folks along
with dignitaries from the City of Cimarron and Gray Co., as well as the
First Tee and the USGA.  These four organizations have been very
instrumental in making our dream of a first class, grass greens golf
course come true.  First Tee donated $100,000 along with practice balls
and many sets of kids golf clubs among other things.  USGA kicked in
$75,000. The city of Cimarron purchased the land for $96,000 as well as
helping in many other ways.  Gray Co. has helped in many ways, the parking
lot for one and help with the remaining cart paths soon to come.  Many
local business's have donated money, materials and equipment.

All nine holes as well as the practice green were sold off as "Signature
Holes" to individuals and area business's for $30,000 each.  You can
view each of these hole by hole elsewhere in this site.  The total donations
totaled $630,000.00.

All of this could not have happened without the donations from all of the
above, however no price can be put on the thousands of hours of work
put in by local volunteers.  In the many times I have been at the course I
don't believe I ever failed to see someone doing something to the course
or the club house.  I hope all of the people of Cimarron some day realize
just how much has been done and what it will mean to the community
down the road.

And finally but certainly not least, Paul Conrardy and Ray Johnson.  The
sacrifices they have made in the last few years have been immeasurable.
Their families have lost many valuable hours with them, not to mention
the many hours of hard work and planning they have done.  Thanks again
guys.
